The Department of Agricultural Education & Economics is made up of three units, Agric. Economics, Agric. Education and Agric. Extension.

GEC371: Small Business Entrepreneurship (2 credits)

This course is designed to provide students with a solid background in entrepreneurship and to equip them with basic skills to successfully confront the challenges of a business venture. The course covers different types of business organizations, formulation of a business plan, discussion of challenges facing managers of small businesses and the role of marketing in a business organization as well as the role of human resources in an organization. This is a 2 credit course offered in level 300 (1L-1P).

GEC275: Basic Concepts in Marketing (2 credits )

This course provides students with general knowledge in marketing to appreciate the role of marketing in day- to- day life and its contribution to economic development and society’s well being. The following topics are covered: the role of human needs and wants in Marketing, understanding the marketing environment, the marketing mix, development of a marketing strategy, consumer and organizational buying and influences and assessment of marketing information needs as well as development and use of marketing information. This is a 2 credit course offered in level 200 (1L- 2P).

Inclusion / Insertion

The department would like to include as a prerequisite to APB410, that students should have done AEB421 Research Methods in Education or GEC330 Introduction to Research Methods, both of which are three credits before they do APB 410 Project. Also that students should have done APB410 for them to do APB420 Project, ie APB410 is a prerequisite for APB420.
