The Department of Agricultural Education & Economics is made up of three units, Agric. Economics, Agric. Education and Agric. Extension.

Agricultural Education Courses

AED323: Educational Technology (2 credits)

The course teaches the process of communication, use and operation of classroom resource materials and equipment, use of reprographic equipment and classroom aids, use and maintenance of audio- visual equipment and other teaching aids. This is a 2 credit core course offered in semester 3 level 300 (2L)

AEB211: Educational Psychology (2 credits)

The course is an introductory and topics covered include psychology and its application to education, methods of psychological inquiry, basic theories about human development based on the schools of thoughts in psychology (Behavioural, Gestalt, Cognitive, Humanistic views of learning). Concepts of learning, motivation, intelligence, school discipline and instructional objectives. This is a 2 credit core course offered in semester 1 level 200 (2L)

AEB221: Teaching Methods in Agriculture (3 credits)

The course covers assumptions and beliefs of teaching; principles of teaching and learning; elements of effective teaching; teaching methods and strategies/techniques; lesson planning, lesson plan preparation; instructional objectives; teaching aids; teaching/learning styles; evaluation of teaching and learning; classroom management; micro-teaching to apply and demonstrate the knowledge and skills learnt in the course. This is a 3-credit core course offered in semester 4 level 200 (3L)
