The Department of Crop Science Production is made up of seven units, Agronomy, Crop Physiology, Crop Protection, Soil Science,Plant Clinic,Horticulture and Forestry & Range



CSD 313: Forest Pathology (2 credits)

The course covers concepts of forest and range pathology, characteristics of the major groups of plant pathogens, disease diagnosis, assessment of losses due to plant diseases, common diseases of forest and range plants and how they are managed. This is a 2 credits core course offered in semester 5 Level 300 and has no pre-requisites. (1L, 2P)

CSD 314: Forest and Range Inventory and Monitoring (3 credits)

The course covers map reading, vegetation measurements, range condition, trend and condition monitoring, inventory methods, elementary photogrammetry and types of maps, inventory field work and data collection. This is a 3 credits core course offered in semester 5 Level 300 and has no pre-requisites. (2L, 2P)

CSD 315: Seed Science and Technology (3credits)

The course covers multiplication, maturity indices, harvesting methods and equipment, seed processing and packaging, seed storage, seed quality control and certification, and marketing and distribution. This is a 3 credits core course offered in semester 3 Level 200 and has no pre-requisites. (2L, 2P)

CSD316: Post Harvest Technology (3 credits)

The course covers post-harvest physiology, storage methods and techniques, and marketing practices of horticultural produce in Botswana. This is a 3 credits core course offered in semester 5 Level 300 and has no pre-requisites. (2L, 2P)

CSD317: Floriculture (3 credits)

The course covers economic importance, environmental requirements, cultural practices, harvesting, processing and marketing of cut- flowers, potted flowering and foliage plants, and greenery.
